In connection with Stockholm being the First European Green Capital, the city of Stockholm invited city officials, decision makers, NGOs, researchers and anyone interested to an international conference on the scientific evidence of health effects of road dust and abatement strategies. The conference was organised by SLB analys at the Environment and Health Administration of Stockholm.
Year 2010, was appointed as the Year of the Lung. Healthy lungs require clean air. The air quality limit values are exceeded in many European cities. Of great current interest is the importance of road dust for particle levels, health effects and the efficiency of different abatement measures. The city of Stockholm invited to a conference to discuss: Which are the scientific evidence of health effects of road dust and which abatement strategies are most efficient?
The conference took place on October 18-19, 2010 in Stockholm, with ca 130 participants from 14 countries.
